It is more than just job dissatisfaction. It is a realization that, since I am only assured a short time on this earth, I need to make the most of it. Answering help desk calls that can usually be answered with the phrase "reboot" is no longer filling the bill.
So this blog is a truly a journal of my journey to this escape. My goals of this blog are as follows:
- To maintain the blog to track my progress.
- To maintain focus on the goals
- To help define the goals.
- To get help from others where and when possible.
- Working independently "for myself" as I want when I want.
- Financial Independence and freedom.
- Freedom to pursue my interest.
- I realize these my not be the most specific goals right now, but I hope to refine them over time.
A few ideas I have to achieve these goals right now are to become an Apple developer and writing this blog. Yup. That's it. Not much to start with, but it's something. Worst part is I don't even know how to code yet.
The first things I am going to try to do (or my first "mini-goals") are :
- Read Zen Habits (http://zenhabits.net/) daily
- Read Four Hour Work Week Blog (http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/) daily
- Do 1/2 hour daily research on how to improve this blog.
- Do 1/2 hour daily learning Apple development
- Blog on this blog daily.
And so it begins. Wish me luck.
